What If You Swallow A Fish Bone?

ANDRE VERCHUREN : La danse des célibataires PATRIK FITZGERALD GROUP

Acquired from Emmaus in Tours-sur-Marne
circa 2007 Ref: AV 1 - Published by Festival in France in 1970 - Hard prohibits the sale
Support: 45 laps 17 cm
Titles: Singles Dance - The months of the batt CUMA - / - Cucumbers - It is not for work I guess

December 31 is July 13 with one of the days when dance more in France. So if you need more ideas for your program tonight, here is a disc made especially for dancing.
I found at Emmaus at a time when they had to recover from a batch an accordion fan, or rather a musician. There were disks of various accordionists, including small samples and production. I selected it because it was a trade off and also because the title The months batt of the CUMA I liked.
This disc is "not for sale . On the back, a short text explains that " This recording made specially for the Editions" Andre Verchuren "by hard" Festival "is reserved for our friends the conductors of our files (sheets or signatures SACEM) . If I understand it, was to encourage professionals who had already played Verchuren in public or on disk, to offend by offering a selection of four recent titles. This promo disc
is linked to a series of three 45 RPM "Special Verchuren " marketed by the Festival and also dance-oriented: the cover photo is the first Special Verchuren , two titles are extracted of No. 2 and the other two are on the No. 3 .
Some time later, Andre Verchuren would leap: in addition to its own publishing house, he came out his music on his own label. This label was also broadcast promos, as referenced it with the initials AV, so it is another disk numbered AV 1, A little kiss , which has nothing to do with that it. And this beats
months, then? Well, it does not disappoint. Admittedly, this is not trivial slight, but her adventures are recounted in a rhythm of samba: "The months batt of the CUMA is the queen of all the guys (...) It lends itself to First John, then turn it is to Fernando, everyone can enjoy the moment that he may pay . At this point, the dancers ballroom urban might be intrigued then follows a warning: "Do not be shocked listening to all this, the batt of the CUMA months is not what you think ", immediately followed by the final explanation:
" - Sil please my man The batt of the CUMA months, what?
- Well, by Jove, it is the combine of the cooperative for farm equipment. "
Dance Singles finally "Those who want marry" is a western style square dance. Jew's harp accompanies the accordion, and of course it is a question of changing the jumper, until we find the Shoe Fits, 'embrasser and his rider at the time indicated.
Side B can not sustain this pace of madness. It is not made to work is a walk on an eternal theme (" The proof is that it tires us ") which is a byproduct of the pipe work is Health Henri Salvador.
I was particularly disappointed by some cucumbers. With this title, announced as a jerk, I hoped for once have a by-product of excellent Pickles Nino Ferrer . It was certainly the idea but, although the song is punctuated with the cry of cucumber which is to be pitied ("Pity cucumbers, cucurbits -poor cucu"), the lyrics are flush with the side garden and jerk is too pronounced for my taste.
That this small reserve will not stop you if you're the DJ tonight at supper or for a wedding soon, to provide some Verchuren. It will appeal to grandparents and with any luck it will bend the rest of the family.

How To Get A Fake Id In Ontario

: Tonight EP

Purchased at Record and Tape Exchange in Notting Hill Gate in London in late 1983 or early 1984
Ref: FS EP 001 - Published by Final Solution in England in 1980
Support: 45 laps 30 cm
Titles: Mrs. & Mrs. - Animal Mentality - Tonight - / - superbeing A - Waiting for the final cue

This is the first disc of Fitzgerald Patrik after his contract with Polydor, with whom he had released his first album Grubby stories and two excellent 45s. For the occasion, he set up a "group", a trio where he is joined by Colin Peacock on keyboards and guitar and Lester Broad, very discrete saxophone.
This EP is the only record released by this group. Their fate has perhaps not been helped by the fact that the label Final Solution who edited it did not last long: he seems to have released four disc all in all, including two albums Gadgets. This is unfortunate because it's one of my favorite records of Patrick Fitzgerald .
is a dark disc as his wallet, and existential depression, although in the zeitgeist of 1980. For openers, Mrs. & Mrs. made the transition with previous records because the guitar sound is almost alone, aside from a xylophone sound for this title short and fast. It is apparently a matter of homosexual affair, but between two men, contrary to what the title might suggest.
The atmosphere changes and ice from the first notes of electric guitar of Animal mentality. There is also a piano, but the set is very bare, as the entire disk. And boredom comes from the first words, "It's only Being Given time to think That Creates boredom, I Could Be Better Off Some Other Way . The solution? Having an animal mentality not to think too much and never get bored ...
Tonight is the peak of the disc. Again, nothing very gay, but between the disks of Joy Division and The Cure, we loved it at the time, and especially it can often do great songs:
" Dying Slowly, feeling ill
I Can not Explain The Way I Feel
People die, and so Will I slow
It Could Be, It Could Be quick quick slow
(...)

Purpose people die, I Will soon
And Then I will not write tunes
Any More And I Will not stand here and talk to you
And wonder what the fuck to do
Tonight. "
The slower tempo than most of the songs Patrik Fitzgerald used the song as accompaniment, always minimal.
The B side continues the momentum, Maybe just a little tone underneath, but A superbeing with his drum machine and electric guitar and Waiting for the final cue finally with the saxophone are great songs that stay in tune and perfectly complement this half-album.
is also one of my regrets that Patrik Fitzgerald Group has not released an album at the time (in 1995, took over the title Patrik Patrik Fitzgerald Group for the album Pillow voltage , but it was not the same formation). A sufficient number of records has yet been made as surely, these five titles, you can add 's Breathing painful and the sublime One by one, released by Armageddon in 1981 and 1982 compilations of the Moonlight Club, Straight boy , the B-side single Personal loss in 1982, but also a first version of One Little Soldier, published in 2006 on the compilation Floating population but recorded in 1980, two years before ending up in another version, opening the album Gifts and Telegrams .
In the liner notes of Floating Population , Patrik said he took as a starting point versions of the group to record and Punch My Death on Gifts and Telegrams entirely solo album as a whole. Since Grey echoes on this album is co-signed by Colin Peacock, one might think that the group was also recorded. What's so I look a potential total of twelve songs for an album of Patrik Fitzgerald Group which, if true, would surely rivaled Drifting Towards Violence for the title of my favorite album of Patrik Fitzgerald ...

The Tonight EP is available on most platforms paid download.
Floating population is always available .
An acoustic version of the 2006 Tonight is listening on page Reverbnation Patrik Fitzgerald .

Patrik Fitzgerald and Colin Peacock, Tonight, Alaska Studio 1980.
is in this same studio as Biff, Bang, Pow! and most of the early Creation group recorded, but that wall insulation does not even seem to be over!
This excerpt from the film Rough cut and ready dubbed also includes interviews with John Peel, Charles Shaar Murray and Tony Wilson.

HOUGASSIAN HARRY, JEAN Jaconelli AND ALL THE SOUTH SEAS: Dances of the South Seas

probably Acquired from Parallel / Gilda in Paris around 2009
Ref: 76311 - Published by RCA in France in 1959
Support: 45 laps 17 cm
Titles: Hula cha - Hello darling - / - If you've been to Tahiti - Hula tequila

Go, since it seems that we are in winter, évadons us toward the sun and blue seas of the South. Evadons us, yes, but not by boat, it is no longer too much nowadays, and especially not by plane. Take the same means of transport that the musicians who recorded these four songs without leaving France évadons us with music!
This disc, which for a time was part of the collections of the Disco Central Broadcasting and Television French, is one of the many recordings of Harry Hougassian , French master of Hawaiian guitar.
Shortly after being attacked on a previous 45 laps Hula Hoop Harry Hougassian Jean Jaconelli Ensemble and the South Seas in the Paris suburbs address here other shores, those of Cuba and Cha-cha-cha cha with Hula, a hybrid version of the famous Cuban-Hawaiian Hawaiian War Chant, and those of Tahiti with the always excellent If you've been to Tahiti . Far from the traditional music of the islands, they take to the sauce Hawaiian another success in 1958, Hello darling , the French version of a track called Return to me in English. I do not know who did it in French first, but nothing that year, Sacha Distel, Tino Rossi and Dario Moreno have all got their own version! The last title is not a takeover, but it's almost like. Signed John Jaconelli, tequila Hula is a quasi-rock track, obviously informed by the Tequila Champs, another tube 1958.
From beginning to end, the disc is excellent, with very good sound. It is not evident with this type of directory, but it is energetic and full of attack. In addition to the Hawaiian guitar, there's electric guitar, including a part on the bass strings nearly saturated Hula cha. There is also brass on many temperate and Hello darling If you've been to Tahiti , and throughout percussion effective, especially Hula on tequila.
This is also probably no coincidence that, outside of Harry and Jean Hougassian Jaconelli, the only musician of all credited by name on the disc label, is the percussionist in Elie Touitou the darbuka.
Touitou, the name caught my attention. I know only one Touitou in the world of music, Jean Touitou society APC, whose music section was particularly successful with Think About Mustapha feat to combine on a single disc Comelade Pascal and Jonathan Richman . Jean Touitou who organized a concert in 1978 Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers at the Theatre Mogador .
Regarding Elie Touitou, Liberation in its edition of February 15, 2000 teaches us in announcing his death that he primarily career under the name El Tounsi Kahlaoui. There is a more detailed biography in the evening program held at the Bataclan in his honor March 13, 2002. A particular room because, in addition to a long career as a musician, singer and conductor, Elie Touitou has long owned the record company Dounia, who published a very large number of Jewish-Arab singers, and he had also acquired Bataclan and a small recording studio in the late 1970s. Lili
Boniche has long recorded at Dounia, but when he returned to the front of the stage, APC is that his records were released. Is it mere coincidence due to homonymy or Elie Touitou and Jean Touitou of APC are they related? If it did, it would tend to prove that the gene for music and passion for music is hereditary!

Congestive Heart Failure End Signs

THE SOUND IS OUT THERE THE MODERN LOVERS

Purchased at Record & Tape Exchange in Camden
18 November 2010 Ref: CD FN 334 - Published by Flying Nun in New Zealand in 1995
CD 12 12 tracks cm

I thought have well and truly finished with my series of posts on Flying Nun compilations since I made the rounds of all those in my possession. Yes but now I had not imagined that tiny and lost in its cardboard sleeve from hundreds of plastic cases of the ray discs at £ 1, I stumbled on this compilation from elsewhere that I had never seen before.
This is a compilation of the catalog Flying Nun of 1995, which has the great advantage of having absolutely no basis in common with all those I had already. There is nothing written on it but I was wondering if it was a commercially available disk or CD promo. An advertisement of the time gave me the answer: this disc limited edition was sold cheap, but it was also offered a promotion to buyers of the three editions of Flying Nun in September 1995. There was also a tour Flying Nun in Australia under the banner The Sound Is Out There , which refers X Files to .

There is not a bad track in the lot. The sound is diverse but the style of pop-rock that made the label famous in the 80s is not very far, except in a reconfiguration with a little folky Sweet angel of Magick Heads, which is not surprising as a member of the group is Robert Scott (The Clean, The Bats). There are also removable Chris Knox, who managed a faultless as always with just his voice, a drum machine and a guitar for saturated Half Man Half mole.
Overall, the groups have a heavier sound, as with the excellent Garageland Pop cigar, which opens the album, Bailterspace, or Superette Loves Ugly Children with punky Messing Things Up . Snapper Hammerhead sign with a success story in a style Jesus and Mary Chain in drum machine. There is a trend rather marked post-rock, which is reinforced by the groups 'international' signed under license by Flying Nun in the Antipodes: Labradford, with a title a little soft knee which for me is the weakest of the lot; Stereolab, with a very good and energetic Farfisa , sung in French, which has the good taste to stop after two minutes when we expected that the group left in a trance for a quarter of an hour, and finally the surprise Cul de Sac with The postponement Kim Parker, a title to the PIL extracted from a compilation of demos and rehearsal tapes. It is not too surprised to learn that the group has collaborated with Faust. A little more knowledge they have done the same with John Fahey ! The distinction
" My favorite track on Disc " is attributed to an instrumental, 76 comeback King Loser, an anthology of surf garage, a cross between Lucifer Sam and Jonathan Fire * Eater that reminds me of course The Whole World is turning Brouchard! and is perfectly in place in the same catalog Fish The Clean . Well, good Madam Flying Nun, and the next perhaps, who knows?

Genital Tattoo Design

New England

Offered by Dorian Feller in 2009 to Villedommange
Ref: BZZ 14 - Published Beserkley by England in 1977
Support: 45 laps 17 cm
Titles: New England - / - Astral plane

I'm lucky: this is the second copy of this disc I'm offered.
The first time was in April 1987 in London. I was so excited to discover a live version of Astral plane B side of 45 laps, Paul Rosen Twelve Cubic Feet had just bought it decided to offer me. I must say that I had no idea before this time the existence of this recording. But Paul was 45 laps without pouch and creaked a lot, so it is with great pleasure I accepted this second copy by Heather Dorian Feller during his wanderings.
The main interest of this copy, it also does not crack, it is accompanied by its cover. I would not say that this cover is pretty, but she has 18 small photos of the Modern Lovers on stage, she has an interest in literature. There are even two shots to the dinosaur Jonathan fours, the only opportunity given to us to associate the sound of the album Modern Lovers Live! (" I come back! ") with an image. Photos by Adrian Boot for the album cover were Kodak colors. There he is Ilford black and white but they were probably taken the same night (And by the same photographer? No credit is given), that is probably still at the Hammersmith Odeon in London 17 and 18 September 1977.
New England, who is from the album Modern Lovers live! , is well worth the high quality of training of the era Modern Lovers: Jonathan Leroy Radcliffe on guitar, Asa Brebner on bass, and D. Sharpe on drums. Compared to the studio version of the album Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers , 1976 the game is thinner, including drums, vocals and even more successful (They sing all four). As for the lyrics, it's fun looking back to hear Jonathan Richman sing "I've been out to California-West, to I Missed The Land Where I Was Born. " when we know it left New England for years to just settle here in California.
The recording Astral plane that is opposite B is a rarity. Because this title is not on the live album but also because it is one of the few occasions when Jonathan Richman has published a directory under the first Modern Lovers. In fact, I think we can move forward without too much wrong he never really liked the album The Modern Lovers so in 1976 with old recordings of 1971-1973. Head and I believe he has released, outside a handful of the album versions of tracks from this period: Roadrunner (Twice) and Government Center on en1975 Beserkley Chartbusters , Hospital and Roadrunner (Thrice) live on B-sides of 45 laps from 1977-1978 and Old World in 2008 Because Her Beauty Is Raw and Wild . I do not count Monologue about Bermuda Having a party on with Jonathan Richman in 1991 where he made fun of himself at the time of the first Modern Lovers. Astral plane and therefore (it seems that they also played She cracked de1977 on this tour, while in the 2000s, Pablo Picasso is Jonathan and Tommy Larkins are often played on stage ).
I have long believed that there was talk of a plane in this song, as I'm a little airplane , another title of the album live. Later, I thought there was a pun on the two meanings of " flat" or "plan " and " plane. In fact, there is no question of aircraft in this ballad of a lonely night in his room: his meeting with his virtual love is the only " astral plane", not a plane or in a rocket. Again, the interpretation of the group is fine and precise. Even without the organ Ernie Brooks, the song retains something of the atmosphere in the Doors version of the studio version, made by playing the bass and guitars.
I now reviewed here all the B sides from this unprecedented live UK tour of 1977. We almost have a lot more in 2004 when Castle announced the reissue double CD album Modern Lovers Live! , with the full two London concerts, including a version of another old title, Girlfriend , but this unauthorized edition has been blocked at the last minute. In any case, Astral plane , Roadrunner (Thrice) and Hospital were not included in the list of titles, indicating that they have been registered elsewhere than in London.

The Modern Lovers, New England, at Top of the Pops in April 1978.
The label on the 45s, stated "(p) 1977," but several sources indicate that this record would actually released in April 1978, at a concert in London and this passage television.

Vidoes On How To Materbate

CHARLES TRENET: Play me the gramophone

Acquired from Emmaus in Tours-sur-Marne
around 2008 Ref: CBS 7957 - Published by CBS in France in 1972
Support: 45 laps 17 cm
Titles: Play me the gramophone - / - Take time to sing

I took the 45 laps in the pouch Lettrist since the combination of two songs titles, Play me the gramophone and Take time to sing aroused some hope in me. Side A would perhaps contain references to records of the fifties or sixties. Or better, it might be an ode to the visionary turntablism, an anticipation of hip hop .
The combination of the two titles could even imagine letting a concept 45s, a diptych on sound and music with fun competing with Give me the microphone of AMI.
Listening to the disc, the return the reality was brutal. This 45 laps from the album of the same title of a Charles Trenet already very far from his best time but still far from retirement, even if he would take his first farewell on stage three years later, is very disappointing.
For side A, if Trenet wonder that he plays the gramophone, not to listen to records but relatively new to hear the tunes of his twenty years with him. It is therefore entitled to a march reminiscent of military music, marching bands and Christmas parades, with a chorus rather enigmatic " Nothing is mine, all belongs to them, to them, to them, them, them. , which may contain a literary reference or musical that I did not before.
Take time to sing waltz starts with violins typical of the orchestrator of the disc, Caravelli . Trenet there is his singing crazy optimist, but without any real energy or cheerfulness: " Take time to sing, laugh, enjoy yourself. Everyone knows that after all life is pretty often when one takes the correct side. "
Ultimately, we have a variety of disk-style firefighter, claimed the French variety, in sound and words with references to France with a capital F on both sides ("From the air pure gays and charming, Musics that say we're in France, and now as before. " and " Everybody knows after all, in France we have the chance to tell the truth. ). The disk of a singer poet already out of breath, perfectly in the mold of TV shows of the 70s in which Trenet had occasion to interpret in playback most of the time, including two After two months apart in spring 1972 in South Thirty , issuing Danièle Gilbert, whose after which the broadcast was co-hosted by Dalida, which perfectly suits the spirit of the disc. We can play the turntable and let it Trenet singing there. It simply is not obliged to listen.

Belly Punching Fetish

BORN IN THE USA

Purchased at the shop Havens Hospices Alexandra Road, Southend 17 November 2010
Ref: [2100002605345] - Published by Q in England in 2010 - Given away With free Q August 2010. Not To Be sold separately.
Support: CD 12 cm

15 titles last Saturday at Vincennes, the discussion has come to turn to the lists of favorite records of year-end and I realized, without surprise, that I would be unable to provide Top 5 of my favorite albums of 2010.
There are people that buy all the discs, so that I could list almost every time they leave one, but the list is reduced over time and the number of albums involved dropped sharply since Will Oldham is gradually removed from the list. In 2010, it leaves us Giant Sand Jonathan Richman and , but in reality there is only one true discovery in my list, which I obviously spoke here Brothers Goyette.
However, I continue to listen to news, but it is mostly of single titles, gleaned online or on CD compiled from magazines like Mojo or dangerous abuses. As for Q, is a music magazine that does not interest me particularly and I do not read, but I was glad to buy for almost nothing (for the CD "Free" released by the casing without press, most charity shops do not display prices, but ask just a donation in a money box near the cash) in a friendly shop Havens Hospices this compilation Born in the USA , which has little to do with Bruce Springsteen but whose interest is to present a selection of fifteen groups Singers and American contemporaries. All
listens very well. There is little that those who lean too much toward a kind of progressive folk that I did not taste at all, like Joanna Newsom, Midlake and Blitzen Trapper.
Among my favorite tracks, there What's in it for? Avi Buffalo, which I read a lot of good lately. It's a song I already knew, probably because their label Sup Pop's offers free download for several months. I also like a lot of Night Might Strange Boys, one of the greatest rock tracks of the lot with a nice air garage misplaced, and also Factory, the title which opens the debut album Band of Horses and found here in a new version which airs Radar Brothers and more energetic.
Among the groups that I already knew and that I like the titles on offer here, there Phosphorescent The Mermaid Parade with , which makes me think highly of both Neil Young and Herman Düne at , the Black Keys and the Avett Brothers, whose And it spread is marked by the use of a cello.
With all that, I would need the equivalent Born in the UK and Born in France, let alone the rest of Rocko Mondo , and I have a good overview of the 2010 production.
