Given the number of registered schools this year and to meet safety (number seating in the room VARET LOOS-EN-GOHELLE), we have to restrict the number of students to 20 max (24 initially provided!) and also the number of prototypes 6 max ! (Especially for appearance before the jury)
Note that the challenge this year takes place the day after a holiday (Ascension Thursday)!

In the same shop as where I found a bunch of 45s new wave last year, including Siouxsie and the Banshees , there was this time it much less of the 80 discs, but a lot of discs in the early '60s, beginning with Shakin 'All Over Johnny Kidd and the Pirates (!), and even the late 50's as this Lonnie Donegan single from .
Lonnie Donegan is best known for popularizing the skiffle in England, but what defines the best, maybe the title of his first American album, An Englishman Sings American Folk Songs . Here it takes two titles with traditional lyrics were set and popularized by Lee Hays member including Weavers Pete Seeger with .
The jewel on this disc is Times are getting hard boys . Early this year, I have no intention to make vows, but the title could well sum up the atmosphere. With four million registered job center and double the poor, a police minister sentenced twice but still in office, a president who is primarily interested in movement of aircraft, probably because it just offered a brand new just for him, the atmosphere is not gay and times are tough, as said Ferre. Certainly no more difficult and certainly less than at other times, but the barometer does not suggest happiness and pleasure ...
The only fault I can do to Lonnie Donegan for his version of this song is precisely'en of having removed much of the political content and to lean toward the pop by making it primarily a song love. If
kept the chorus of Lee Hays, "Times are getting hard , boys, money's getting scarce. If Things Do not Get No Better, boys, gonna leave this place ", references to the difficulties of the farmer (crop failure, refusal of credit: the time does not change ...) and his desire to emigrate to California where the grass would be more Green (dream and utopia, in addition to Governor Schwarzenegger is now!) disappeared to make room for only regret not having enough money to offer her beautiful jewelry in addition to his eternal love.
But when the tip reading the key groove, it's pure emotion that comes out of speakers. Donegan sings in a soft voice and whistles, there is a delicate acoustic guitar and bass punctuations and everything is very strong and very addictive. A great moment. All

December 31 is July 13 with one of the days when dance more in France. So if you need more ideas for your program tonight, here is a disc made especially for dancing.
I found at Emmaus at a time when they had to recover from a batch an accordion fan, or rather a musician. There were disks of various accordionists, including small samples and production. I selected it because it was a trade off and also because the title The months batt of the CUMA I liked.
This disc is "not for sale . On the back, a short text explains that " This recording made specially for the Editions" Andre Verchuren "by hard" Festival "is reserved for our friends the conductors of our files (sheets or signatures SACEM) . If I understand it, was to encourage professionals who had already played Verchuren in public or on disk, to offend by offering a selection of four recent titles. This promo disc
is linked to a series of three 45 RPM "Special Verchuren " marketed by the Festival and also dance-oriented: the cover photo is the first Special Verchuren , two titles are extracted of No. 2 and the other two are on the No. 3 .
Some time later, Andre Verchuren would leap: in addition to its own publishing house, he came out his music on his own label. This label was also broadcast promos, as referenced it with the initials AV, so it is another disk numbered AV 1, A little kiss , which has nothing to do with that it. And this beats
months, then? Well, it does not disappoint. Admittedly, this is not trivial slight, but her adventures are recounted in a rhythm of samba: "The months batt of the CUMA is the queen of all the guys (...) It lends itself to First John, then turn it is to Fernando, everyone can enjoy the moment that he may pay . At this point, the dancers ballroom urban might be intrigued then follows a warning: "Do not be shocked listening to all this, the batt of the CUMA months is not what you think ", immediately followed by the final explanation:

Dance Singles finally "Those who want marry" is a western style square dance. Jew's harp accompanies the accordion, and of course it is a question of changing the jumper, until we find the Shoe Fits, 'embrasser and his rider at the time indicated.
Side B can not sustain this pace of madness. It is not made to work is a walk on an eternal theme (" The proof is that it tires us ") which is a byproduct of the pipe work is Health Henri Salvador.
I was particularly disappointed by some cucumbers. With this title, announced as a jerk, I hoped for once have a by-product of excellent Pickles Nino Ferrer . It was certainly the idea but, although the song is punctuated with the cry of cucumber which is to be pitied ("Pity cucumbers, cucurbits -poor cucu"), the lyrics are flush with the side garden and jerk is too pronounced for my taste.
That this small reserve will not stop you if you're the DJ tonight at supper or for a wedding soon, to provide some Verchuren. It will appeal to grandparents and with any luck it will bend the rest of the family.
